The one item I am most proud of is that this tank was stocked from almost all propagated corals. The only corals directly store bought are the Bubble Tip Anemone, (which has now split three times) and the Frog Spawn. Everything else came from our club propagation meetings or cuttings from my old 125g tank.

I am also very lucky to have an extra bathroom we didn’t need behind the main display tank that I coverted into the “Fish Room”.  This allowed me to keep all the extra equipment out of our living room. Sump, Refugium, Protien Skimmer...etc. There is almost no noise from our tank in the living room. It also makes water changes and cleanup jobs a breeze since I don’t need to do that in our living room.

Our current tank is as follows:

30g display tank.
CPR overflow
SeaSwirl for return distribution
MaxiJet1000 on a Natural Wave Timer.

Four - three foot VHO lights run by an Icecap 660.
12 hour daylight cycle.
Two daylight bulbs, two Actinic bulbs.
Temp runs from 79F at night to 82-83F during the day.

About a three inch sand bed, mostly “Bio Active Live Sand”.  I really like the color. The sand bed was seeded from the Bay Area Reef Enthusiasts club Live Sand Project.

Sparse Live Rock.  In a 30g there isn’t much room to start with and after some coral growth you’re at the water line.  I was attempting to do more holes and caves. There are about 6 medium size pieces of rock in this tank.

I have a 30g sump and a 20g refugium run in a converted bathroom behind the tank.  I have a basic three shelf steel rack that holds all the equipment.  I made a finished hole in the wall to allow all the return lines from the main tank to the fish room.

The return pump is a Mag Drive.  I have an Eheim feeding the refugium (still more work to be done here).  I have a Top Fathom skimmer, not the best but does the job all the same. I also have a MyReefCreations Calcium Reactor. With all the pumps and small tank I don’t need to use a heater.

The sump is a 30g old plexiglass tank. I have about 30lbs of live rock in the sump.

The refugium is a 20g glass tank.  I have a CPR Overflow that currently dumps back into the sump.  I’d like to change this eventually to dump directly back into the main display tank. The refugium is lighted by four - two foot VHO bulbs run on an Icecap 660.  The lights are run on a reverse light cycle.

Currently I have about an 8 inche sand bed in the refugium.  Once again I used the “Bio Active Live Sand”, but also added about four inches of very fine aragonite.  I also have about 20lbs of live rock broken up into small pieces.  I have two types of algae that grow very well, and four peppermint shrimp.  I use the refugium to grow out corals I cut from the main tank.

I have the following corals and fish.  Sorry for the lack to scientific names here, I’m too lazy to look them up.  I’ll get to them later.
Bubble Tip Anemone, split three times now.
Branching Frog Spawn.
Four different types of Gorgonians. Purchased from Eco-Gorg. (propagated)
Green Montipora
Two different SPS, one green one purple.
Encrusting Montipora, blue skeleton.
Two different colored Pocilipora’s, one brown one green.
Two different types of Green Star Polyps.
Several Blue Spotted Mushrooms.
Neon Green Nepthya
Hammer LPS
Pulsing Xenia
Brown Nepthya
White Candy Cane Coral

For fish I have the following:
Two clown fish
Coral Beauty
Bi-Color Blenny
Fox Tail Blenny
Also have one serpant star
Cleaner Shrimp
Some number of snails
Some number of blue leg hermits
